Default Suggestions for best economical diesel engine for III Series, please.

I`m thinking of purchasing a truck cab diesel III Series SWB Landy, and to work on it and do it up a bit in my spare time, now that I`m retired.
Unless it has a new or nearly new economical diesel engine fitted, I`m intending to change it for something else.
But which economical diesel engine? I don`t know!
But I would greatly appreciate advice and suggestions from people on this forum.

Also, should I buy one with a galvanised chassis or do that myself. I know that it will be a big job but there won`t be a finish date as we have a family car that we use daily and I have a bus pass that takes me everywhere.

Many thanks,

The easiest is going to be a 2.25 or 2.5 Series diesel.
Next easiest is a 2.5T then a 200TDI.
Next would be a 300Tdi, but unless you're very gentle you'll want to upgrade the gearbox.

Er, don`t know, I know there are places to buy parts for Landys, but I haven`t checked out if there are any engines for sale and what they are yet . But if I start looking I reckon I`ll start coming across some.

Did you look at the EX-MOD and similar heavy duty ones?
