The super-secret "emergency-Neutral" switch
Well, it's more of a "pin" than a switch, but it's for those moments when your Discovery II is dead and stuck in Park.
You know, maybe you need to put it into Neutral so that you can push it around your warehouse or maybe you need to tow it. Tough to do when it is stuck in Park because you have no battery/motor.
Except, there is an easy, no-tool way. Hey, has this been posted already?!
Gently lift your plastic shift-indicator cover (pic 1). It's just a friction fit (don't lift it unnecessarily high, though).
Underneath that cover is some white plastic. Next to (slightly to the rear of the vehicle) that white plastic is a dull grey metal pin in the half-moon indentation.
Push it with your fingers if they are nimble, or with a pen if not. Now you can successfully depress your shifter button and move your gear selector to any desired position.
Magic!
Hope this helps someone, someday.
