Ticking In engine stops all of a sudden..
Hi All,
I'm new to this site but have heard some good things so I thought I would try it out. I purchased a Disco 2 from a friend a year ago, I was aware that it had a "tick" coming from the engine when I bought it and it continued to have a tick until a week ago when it suddenly stopped. Any ideas at all? I have seen other posts about Disco's having ticks but nothing about it suddenly stoping. Around the same time the temp gauge started indicating that my running temp was low (when at speed it hovers around 1/4 up). Wasn't sure if this was due to the engine noise stopping or not.

So when did you last check your coolant level or for that matter opened the hood to check all the fluids?
Cool indication on the temp gauge can be indicating you are low on coolant, hence a leak and a problem.
As for the tick noise, a tick means there is a wear problem and should not be put off, the longer it ticks, the higher the repair bill can be.
