Default Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault

I have been experiencing a random error on my 2009 LR3 for the past few weeks. Some days, nothing happens; on other days, it could occur a few times within the hour, or just once with nothing for the rest of the day. Out of the blue, the tire pressure light starts flashing, then goes solid, and a message appears on the console: "Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault." During this time, the radio, A/C or heating shuts off, doors lock, screen shuts off, and hazard lights go on (with no indication on the dashboard that hazard lights are on). This sequence can last anywhere from 2 minutes to 15 minutes before everything returns to normal. If I happen to turn off the engine during this occurrence, it won't start back up. I have to leave the key in contact and wait until everything resets to normal before starting.

I've confirmed that my battery is in good condition, the batteries on the tire pressure sensors are at 75%, and the tire pressure is within the recommended range.

I'm wondering if someone has experienced the same issue and was able to pinpoint the cause.

Thanks.

I hope someone has a way to just totally disable the tire monitoring system!

Yes, I did. It’s the instrument cluster, and it’s easy to remove. There are several companies online that can repair it. If you’re in Canada, I recommend this guy—very reasonably priced (I think it was somewhere around $300 CAN), fixed, and delivered back in less than three days.
