trouble code
Hi all, new to the forum and wondering if someone could assist me. I'm looking at purchasing a 2009 LR2 Hse with 26,000 original miles from my aunts estate. It has been sitting unused for over 2 years. I test drove it and it seemed fine around town but when on the highway it hesitated and the check engine light came on. I put a code reader on it and got P003F indicating "A" Camshaft Profile Control Stuck On. Is anyone familiar with this ?? Thank You in advance
Variable valve timing issue!
Most likely the engine has been short on regular servicing in its past and gums/varnish in the lubricating oil has caused the variable valve timng unit to stick or not react hence the fault code.
You can get the same problem with the L322 and the BMW Vanos units when the oil change frequencies are overlooked/neglected.
My suggestion might be a fix in the can by BG products going under BG109.
I have used it with success on a VW Passat and their W8 engine which I assure you is much more complicated.
Follow the instructions carefully and finish with a can on MOA in the fresh oil change.
May take several changes depending upon severity of plugging up but cheaper than a tear down.
