Default Update infotainment from 2016ish?

Hello everyone,
First time visiting the forum here, just wondering about something regarding the nav/touchscreen.

I'm looking at buying a 2014-16ish Range Rover Sport (Or possibly an LR4 after a few test drives to make sure they have enough pep.)
Never had a LR product, currently have an Audi, but need some more space.

Upon reading reviews of trucks when they were new, the concensus is that the infotainment (Is that what the touch interface is called?) is so bad it detracts from owning the vehicle. Slow, bad nav, etc.

Has there been an update that can be applied to the older vehicles, or even new hardware? How annoying really is it? I've heard that Android and Carplay can be retroactively applied in some cases? Is it usable? Truthfully I don't really care about those particular products that much. Just bluetooth streaming and control is fine, (That's all I have now anyways.) but maps/traffic and voice command is important.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing your opinions and experiences!
