Water Pump Internal Photos
Pump on left is 1997 D1, 175K approx. Shaft wobbles, leaks. Pump on right is from donor 2001 Disco. Note on first pump there is a bright area where impeller has chewed into base. Also note the distinctive mud colored coating, most likely previous owner's cooling system stop leak. This coating will be over most of cooling system, and maybe seal a leak or two, but also reduces heat transfer. The enlarged photo shows the calcium crud build up, even on the fast moving impeller.
Also pix of the engine side of the pump area, note more crud spots, and pay no attention to that diagnostic blue RTV on the front seal below. Note that there is scoring on the front of the engine from the twisted impeller also (second pix).
For other newbies, see photo of bolts in cardboard box, they are several different sizes and lengths.
I plan to try blue RTV instead of a gasket, none in stock locally except dealer, for $18. Should it work? Works on thermostat.

Seems to work, let it set up for an hour and then tightened 1/2 more turn per the info on the tube of RTV. Will get a couple of gaskets on next parts order. Pre-owned water pump was $7 at salvage yard, some local parts houses wanted $348 for a pump.
