Default Weird electrical problem

Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago I replaced the alternator on my 2000 Discovery. I also had to replace the battery right after, I think the alternator killed it. Anyway, after both of those were replaced, I'm having all sorts of electrical problems. The fog lights, radio, heated seats, compass on the rear view mirror, and windshield wipers (front and back) don't work at all. I've checked all possible fuses and since I have no wiring diagram to look at, I'm clueless. I was thinking maybe I fried the radio at first but then I noticed the other problems. Any help is much appreciated! I should also note that I have a Land Rover repair CD that has something called RAVE and I can't find anything helpful in it and I'm ready to throw it in the trash unless someone can guide me through that too. Thanks!

start checking powers and grounds and find where they relate. if you have power on the fuses them its something else. If no power then check back from there. Perhaps a fuse blew at the engine fuse box.

I'll try checking grounds, I haven't put a meter to the fuses yet so I'll try that too. I did check every fuse in the engine fuse box, and almost every one in the cabin fuse box and they're all good. Its weird though because they were all working before the alternator and battery replacement, and now nothing.

I would start checking grounds from the alternator and Battery. It sounds like a main ground issue.

Well the problem was fixed. It turned out the right side of the fuse box under the steering column wasn't getting power. I'm not sure exactly what the electrician did to fix it but that was the problem. He told me Land Rovers are notorious for having electrical problems, and that it was a European thing in general.
