Default Whirring Noise from electric motor

Hi Everyone
I have had my 2001 Land Rover discovery for around 4 years it has 120,000 miles on the clock.
Just recently a loud whirring noise is coming from the electric motor located on the left hand side of the engine bay, mounted to the bulkhead.
It happens usually on cold start and lasts for about 3 to 4 minutes then winds down. Any ideas would be very much appreciatted.
Thanks you John.

It's the secondary air injection pump. My 2000 started doing it also. Probably due to a worn O2 sensor. I will wait until it throws a code before I worry about it. I think it kinda sounds cool. Does it more in colder weather.
