Default 06 LR3 "whirring"noise while accelerating?

Hi All - New LR3 owner. ( I did post this in the general tech forumn but didn't know which was appropriate). Got a '06 LR3 V8 about five months ago with just 28k miles on it and now have 34k. It's been running great with two exceptions.

The first is a high pitched whirring noise I've noticed when accelerating from a stop or going up a hill from a stop. The sound is always most notable at about 2250 rpm, or when the car is "pulling" up to speed. The noise always dissapates once you are up to speed. Can't say that it's coming from one side or another, and I wouldn't say it has anything to do with steering. I don't notice it any other time but while accelerating, but it just doesn't sound right. Any thoughts?

Also, I do get the little lurch that others have mentioned when accelerating out of a "california stop". Almost like the car isn't shifting down fast enough. If I come to a full stop it doesnt' happen.

Thanks for any thoughts. - Max

Wonder if it makes this noise when slowly revved up to same rpm while parked? If so, could be a pulley.

Not sure when a LR3 needs initial tranny fluid and filter change, older models it was about 30K, may be time for yours, and transfer case and differential fluid changes should not be overlooked.

There is a TCM update for the rolling stop issue and must be done by the dealer. As far as the whirring noise, verify if it is an engine noise by revving the engine slowly while in park. If it is not an engine noise, then drive vehicle on a road less traveled until it is making the noise. As it is making the noise move steering wheel from left to right creating a load side to side. The sound should get worse depending which side its on, this would indicate a bad wheel hub assembly. I have also seen the front and /or rear differential pinion bearings go out on low mileage '05-'07's.

actually its a tcm and an ecm update. fail to do one and it doesn't go away. In fact that is the cause of the problem. Different software versions in both modules. Common on all those engines regardless of vehicle.

Although RR you get a pronounced kick in the bumper from the problem at decel around 45
