I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport. While I was driving began to loose power and pulled over. White smoke was coming out of the front of the engine. Had to have it towed home. It will drive for around 15 min until it heats up and the smoke begins to come out. Dash thermostat does not go past normal. It seems to be projecting and not just dripping. No smoke through exhaust and did not see any milky color via dipstick, so hoping not a head gasket. Coming from the front around area of water pump, but hard to tell from where exactly. I attached pics from where the smoke comes from. Thanks for any advice on how to fix... Closeup is taken in the spot through right (would be top) of the wires.
It may be penetrating oil burning off from them soaking the motor mounts to get the bolts out without breaking them. Probably splashed it on the exhaust manifold. Or they put their greasy hand on the exhaust pipe and now it's smoking off. It also might be something else, but I'd lean toward it being something minor. The shop should be more than willing to look at it for free. I can't see them wanting something snaptubevidmate melting under the hood that was their fault.
