Wobbly fan
Folks, weeks ago my Disco 2 started to chirp on the engine bay. It was a very subtly noise. Suddenly that because a quite loud "bang bang". Upon inspection, with the engine off, I couldn't find anything wrong. The belt and pulleys are in good condition, I then spin the fan with my hand, but couldn't notice any play at all, it looked fine. However, when I turned the engine on, I noticed the "bangs" were coming from a wobbly fan, which seems to be hitting its cover (and whatever else). I would appreciate if you guys could give me some tips of what might be wrong with it! Truck is a 2001 Disco 2 with 188k miles. Thank you in advance!

Hi. First, you should post your technical questions in the Disco 2 section of this forum.
Second, I would not drive it in this condition. There have been cases of fans coming apart and destroying the radiator and coolant hoses. I would suggest replacing the fan ASAP.

It can be a failed waterpump bearing... or the fan viscous unit itself.
I just replaced the fan clutch on my Disco 1, because the fan wobbled due to the coupling being worn internally - the nut on the back was rigid on the waterpump, but the viscous coupling wobbled quite a lot.
