Default Won't start @ times, Crank Position Sensor?

When the engine is cold, I never have a string problem as of yet. But 3 times now when the engine is warmed up, I can turn is off for 5 min or so, then when I go to start it, is just turns over. All three times, I have to wait about 15 min or 20 min, and it would start right up. I did not smell and fuel, so I was thinking Crank Position Sensor. I can go a few days and never have the problem again, but I have noticed when it would not start the engine was already up to operating temp. Also I was going to also change out the fuel filter as well.

It's a 2000 Disco II with about 90,000 miles on it.

I look forward to everyones sugjesions.

Any codes?
Crank sensors can fail and not throw a code so you may want to have a mechanic test it for signals.

nope, no codes. I may just buy the sensor since the cost of a machanic would be about the same.

Well, I just went to move my disco to the other side of my drive way and it's a nogo. Won't start now. What I have seen happen over the last 6 weeks started, while sitting at a red light the engine would die out of the blue. This has happened about 4 times, but would start right up. Now in the last 2 weeks, I have turned it off, then go to start it back up, and it would only just turn over, and that's about it. I would walk away for 15 min or so, then it would start right back up. Now it will never start.

Can't get it to a land rover shop, so I am open to what I shouold do? My thoughts would be to replace the MAF Senor, and the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
I read from this link:http://www.rangerovers.net/newrremedies.htm#cranksense

I don't know where to start, or if I'm starting in the right areas. Any help here would be great. I need it to pull my boat.....and it's almost spring.

I just wanted to update this if anyone should search and find it. My problem was the Crank sensor. It was about 90 bucks to buy, and took about 2 hours to do it. I had trouble locating it, and removing it, but all my issues I stated above are gone. Hope this helps.

By the way Woody, I hope you didn't buy a new MAF and hope you found you don't have a external fuel filter on a D2.

All,
I was having the same stopping and not starting problem. I had a engine that I had replaced and took the old crankshaft position sensor and the problem stopped ( for a few days) then started up again. I both a new one and replaced and so far I have not had the problem. After I replaced it with the used one and it when off, I started getting the following codes, P0134, P1590, P0335, P1884. P0335 was the code for crankshaft position sensor. Once I replaced it all codes were cleared. thanks for this posting as it helped me out quite a bit and thought I update for someone else having this issue.

Don't make us guess!!!!!!
What have you checked so far and be specific and don't get back to us till you have been all over your truck, starting with a bad battery and or dirty cables.
