1. Remove the battery and take it to FLAPS to get tested. They'll fully charge it and then test for cranking amps. If it's bad or even marginal, get a new one (warranty?). This car is not tolerant of a weak battery, and voltage is not a great metric... low voltage means something is wrong but normal voltage does not always mean nothing is wrong.

2. Reset the car's computers
- Disconnect battery
- Wait 10 minutes
- Touch terminals together
- Reconnect battery
- Wait 10
- Insert key
- Wait 10
- Turn vehicle power on (engine off)
- Wait 10
- Start engine

If problems persist, check for vampire draw with the vehicle off and cooled down (all fans, etc stopped). That will require an appropriate ammeter. I don't know what an HSE should normally draw but 25-75 mA is probably reasonable, over 100 is probably too much. Or have a mechanic check the draw.
Hello, i have conversed with you previously on a starter issue. New problem (2010 LR2) Starter and battery both new (2 months old) having a battery drain issue now when sitting 8-10 hours. Normally will start within 8, but after 10 hours requires a quick jump. Where should I start looking? With the FOB out of the car, everything should be off. Possible causes?

The most common cause for this is leaving things plugged in to an accessory power port. The one in the rear of the center console is ALWAYS on. If you leave something plugged in, like a GPS, it will drain your battery. For some, the satellite radio box in the rear cargo area can be the culprit and might need to be disconnected if you don't use it, or replaced.

Default Battery drain

Nothing plugged in rear outlet. What is the rear satellite radio thing? I use satellite radio on an aftermarket stereo system ( pioneer )

The LR2 sometimes comes with a satellite radio module that gives the factory radio Sirius/XM capability. If you changed it for another radio, then you are on your own and need to check if it's still drawing power when turned off.

I will look into that. Do you think the ground wire might be an issue? Or is there any other known drain issues with this vehicle?
Thank you!

Ground wires don't cause leaks. There are no "known" drain issues other than a faulty starter and what I already mentioned.

battery can only sit for 10 hours…. are you sure its a drain and not a ‘going to die’ battery? Have you completed testing of the battery?
You didn’t mention the ‘at rest’ voltage nor the charging voltage…

Good point. "New batteries" fail too. That's why they have warranties.

I found the reference with the spec for the LR2's parasitic draw. In the workshop manual, it's called Quiescent Drain (anything to make it easy to find, thanks LR!).

Here's the latest version of the TSB (LTB00391). If you don't have the software patch, then turn off the Nav system and end your BT phone call before shutting off the vehicle.
