Unhappy 2008 lr2 se - p0171 & p0274

Got a check engine light, P0171 & P0274. Too lean, banks one and two. I change the air filter, cleaned the MAF, and added some good ole Sea Foam. Light is out! One week later, light is back on. Any suggestions?

I had this a few times before and it was always solved by cleaning the MAF sensor. Make sure the MAF connector is properly seated and the sensor is seated properly (the rubber ring). Only use MAF cleaner and try another can of seafoam. In addition, premium gas only and fill to the first click at the pump (do not overfill!!). Just keep clearing engine code a few times and see what happens. It could be the MAF and if you have to replace it, use only OEM which I think is a Denso made in Spain?!

Watch your fuel trims, both long and short term for both banks.

Thanks! I ordered a new MAF sensor. On it's way. Not sure if it was ever changed, so it might be time! Also, I ALWAYS run premium!

Failure symptoms for faulty PCV

1. Oil weeping past the cap - this was my only symptom

2. High pitched whistle - I had this happen on my Audi 2.0T PCV and it was very loud

3. Check engine light - possible codes P0171, P0174, P0507

Good Luck

Paul

PS Get a good one it should be marked with FOMOCO. If you get it directly from Land Rover or Volvo it will have the mark.
