switched the grey relays as instructed then docked key pushed start button to get dash display and it said Hdc fault system unavailable and displayed flashing yellow triangle symbol with ! , on bottom left beneath engine light, which has stayed on even after mechanic replaced fuel pump and starter. I did not attempt to start it because of warning lights displayed.

 

That's actually great news

I would do the following

1. Mark the relay in position 49 with the letter B (use a sharpie) B = Bad

2. Swap the bad relay in position 49 with the Relay in Position 29 (Note: this will likely disable the heated defrost on the windshield)

3. Start you LR2 like you did before all of this happened (let us know if it starts)

4. Get a new relay for the bad one I bought a Wells 20999 (But a Duralast 20999 should work fine https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...20999/448812_0 )

I've been running the Wells 20999 in my LR2 since 2012 and it starts every time.

I swapped my relays in 2012 because my original battery died (it was 5 years old) and as the voltage dipped one of the relays became unstable and it switched on/off about 50 times a second for 60 minutes that's about 200,000 cycles which is likely all that the relay was rated to do. I didn't know which relay had become unstable so I replaced all of them.

PS When my battery died I couldn't even remove the key from the slot, all I could do is listen to the relay clicking away, I was very annoyed, but since then my LR2 has been very reliable. The important thing to remember is that the LR2 won't suffer fools, you need to be proactive.

Good morning,
I just recieved the new relays & when replacing them I noticed that one of the female's you had instructed me to switch places with was burned out so I am replacing it as well. The battery has been disconnected since I last attempted to start it, do I need to wait any amount of time after reconnecting it before I attempt to start it?

 

It doesn't hurt to wait 2-3 minutes while the computers restart and reset.

 

Also I would charge the battery if you have a charger.

I charged battery, replaced both 46 & 49 relays with new ones, also replaced item #s 16 & 50 with new ones. Docked key, allowed system check to do its thing then tried to start & nothing but I did hear fuse pop sound . #50 (new replacement) is blown. Disconnected battery cables & removed starter, had it tested & it's working fine. Gonna take a few deep breaths & pray for patience, give thanks for all that y'all are doing to help me & for a solution I can afford. 😔🙏


Fuse that blew when i attempted to start rover after replacing with new one, at same time i replaced relays 46 & 49 with new one's.

Sounds like you may need a new starter.
