Default 2008 R2 Passenger Power Seat

Hi all,

I've got a 2008 R2 and the electronics of my passenger seat have malfunctioned. The dealership is telling me I need to pay $1,000 to replace the electronics inside to get the seat to move forward and backwards again, does this sound right or is there something else I can do? The seat reclines with the motor, but for some reason it doesn't move forward or backwards. Any help or suggestions would be extremely helpful, I am in the Los Angeles Area if there are any mechanics around that can take a further look. Thank you.

Sounds like the seat controls need to be removed and cleaned with contact spray.

Might also look for a used seat from a junkyard, if it comes down to actually replacing any seat electronics $$$$
