Edit: was this your post on the other forum? I'm curious about what other info you might have to removing the mechanism
No, not my post but it was linked in the thread you started there.

As mentioned in the other thread, heavy keychains can torque the key fob and create issues with insertion/ejection. I made my wife remove her heavy chain full of trinkets and just keep a house key attached to the fob.

Ha! Good point. My wife has nothing on her FOB after I told her removing it when it won't come out is on her.

This is not going to be easy. It's like asking me to give up a limb.

Turns out, you were right, the mechanism was jammed and the locking tabs were stuck.

By forcefully pushing the FOB into the receiver, it was able to break the jam free (with a loud audible click) and the mechanism is acting as it should now and able to properly shut off the ignition power.

I'm going to tell my daughter that she needs to just use the FOB without keychains from now on as well. 😉 great advice. Pretty sure her keychains were weighing more than 1-2lbs

Thanks so much for the info and help. I'm hoping that releasing the mechanism will allow it to continue to operate as it should and no further issues. I'll post back here with my findings after using it for some days like this.
