Default 2010 Brake Pad Replacement DIY?

Is there a DIY guide out there to replace the front and rear pads for a 2010 LR2? I cant seem to find anything concrete.

What are you having trouble with? It's just like any other disc brake out there. Unless 2010 is different from the 2008'. I just did mine about 6 months ago and don't remember anything out of the ordinary about it. Although I used aftermarket pads since the ones from the dealer turn my wheels black with brake dust after about a week.

The brake dust from my OEM brake pads drives me crazy. My wheels always look dirty. It never occured to me that I could solve this problem with aftermarket brake pads. May I ask which brand you used? Also, aren't the pads different sizes on the front and rear axles? I wondered if aftermarket pads were even available for the larger size.

I bought Duralast pads from Autozone. I think they were about $50 or $60 each set. They said the ceramic would produce no dust, but I opted for the semi- metallic and actually have no brake dust with those either. The fronts are different sizes from the rear, but the auto stores seem to carry both with no problem.

I just researched aftermarket brake pads and rotors on some of the other auto forums. These two brands kept appearing as the best quality and value/cost: Akebono ceramic pads (Euro series) and Raybestos rotors (Advanced Technology series). These are well suited for your daily driver. If you have a high performance racer, that's a different ballgame.

That's the same praise I've read on other forums about these brake pads. Thanks for your testimonial.

I also read that if you're switching from semi-metallic pads to ceramic pads, the brakes feel soft at first as they don't have the same bite as the semis. After about 500 miles of driving with the new ceramic pads, they "set" and braking feels more normal.

Please post back again after you've got them on your LR2 to let us know.
