Default 2010 LR2 Front Differential Noise

My 2010 LR2 had the rear differential noise. Local mechanic replaced the problem differential bearing to fix this.

Same mechanic states there is noise coming from the front differential as well. While I have seen many posts about the problematic rear differential, the bearing and its noise, I do not see posts about front differential noise.

Is this also a known problem? Is it related to bearings? Is there a fix other than replacing the front differential?

The front unit is called a Power transfer Unit (Volvo calls it an Angle or Bevel Gear) and it has a pinion bearing that can fail just like the rear differential

Take a look at this link for more information.

Thanks

Paul

Range Rover Evoque Front transfert Box, diff reconditioned-Same Day Service
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY POWER TRANSFER UNIT / TRANSFER BOX / FRONT DIFFERENTIAL NEEDS REPLACING?

A problem with the Range Rover Evoque power transfer unit / transfer box / front differential can show itself in two different ways.
1. You may hear a whining noise from the front of your Range Rover Evoque, a little like road noise, which tends to get louder when you place the Range Rover Evoque under load, such as when you are accelerating - this is the most common symptom.
2. You lose the four wheel drive, so when you need grip the front wheels start spinning and you just skid around, rather than get out of that muddy field - this could also occur if you have a problem with your rear differential or Haldex.
