Any recomendations for a decent scan tool for a 2010 LR2? Looking for something under $150

I use a Garmin EcoRoute HD with my Android phone (as well as another scanner, but this one stays in my car full time) and it does the job perfectly. Hard part is finding that Garmin unit, since it is now discontinued and hard to find.

Spend the money and go with the GAPII.......I have heard zero bad reviews about it. There are lots of critical reviews re. Icarsoft due to lack of working service features and data and then there is also multiple reviews re.lack of software support to resolve those issues. I don't know about the Foxwell units but I also read that the Nanocom units are pretty solid.

I'd have to second the GAPII tool recommended by @ArmyRover

Until you decide, when the check engine light is on, drive to any auto parts store and have them scan the code(s) and write it/them down (six characters if possible). They can probably try clearing the code(s) as well and see if it(they) come back.
