Default 2010 LR2 Keyfob unlock stops working

2010 LR2 - After 10ish days, if not used, it seems that the key fob will not unlock the doors. I have to use the physical key, unlock the door, alarm goes off, insert FOB. Starts normally.

Any idea what is happening there? I was thinking it might be the key fob, as I understand it charges when docked, but it works to unlock the doors immediately after opening and starting the car, so it doesn't seem like it would get much charge.

Thanks,

Tom

Battery is probably worn out, they don't last forever. You can get a new one from the dealer for $500 or buy one online and program it yourself with a scantool like an Autel AP200. There are how-to threads on this forum.

The battery can also be changed but it takes some decent soldering skills.

Don’t you ever just feel like slapping some of those clever people out there? Soldering in a battery… Really!?

The battery is recharged by the docking bay of the 2008+?.....hence it's soldered. I am not sure if the 2013 battery is designed to be recharged or just swapped out.

Oh they're clever alright... if it wasn't soldered you could just buy a new one at Rite Aid for $4. As opposed to $400+ for a new fob from the dealer.

When you press the plastic housing the plastic bends and the + comes into contact with the micro-switch on the printed circuit board. For my remote 10 years of cycling was enough to wear away the + and cause the remote to not work as intended.
Have fun

Paul

EDIT: Do any of the buttons on the FOB work when you are trying to unlock? For example can you turn on the headlights? Open the rear hatch? Lock again and get the corner lights to flash?
