2010 LR2 whinning noise

Default 2010 LR2 whinning noise
when idling there is a loud whining noise, thought it was idler pulley, change both of them, and water pump. Would alternator make that sound?

Old post, I know, but did you check your PCV valve? If you pull the dipstick, and it stops - you likely have a bad pcv valve.

Yes it’s more than likely the read unit that powers the alternator and other accessories. Go on the Volvo forms and look into READ unit failures on 3.2s and you will see. Common on pre 2011 3.2s
