Default 2013 LR2 Base headlight bulb question

I am hoping to get an answer here.
My 2013 LR2 is a base model so it only has the DTRL and one projector lens.

I seem to go through projector lens bulbs quickly. I am lucky to get 6 months out of them.
I am concerned I am getting the wrong bulb for it.
I buy (Usually Sylvania) 9005 bulbs.
Every auto parts store I check with when I gave them the year make and model of the vehicle they com up with an H7 for the high beam and an H11 for the low beam.
I only have one bulb so this makes no sense to me. On top of that, niether the H7 nor the H11 will fit the plug for my headlights.
Most also show an optional bulb (DS3), however this bulb would not fit my connector or housing either.

I did call the LR dealer near me, gave them my Vin and was told the part I need is LR044458 however, looking at that part, I believe it will not fit either.

For comparison, here is the 9005 I just replaced.

Should I be using the 9005? They are not a dual element, so is using the high beam simply forcing more power through the bulb causing it to burn brighter and so burning it out quickly?
What bulb should I be using?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I came here looking for an answer to the same question. I also have a 2013 LR2, base model and my current set of bulbs are Phillips and one has gone out after 7 months. Prior to that I was using Sylvania bulbs but switched because they were only lasting about 11 months. I was also wondering why every time I lookup replacement bulbs it assumes I have HID bulbs and not halogen. If I find any more information I will post it here but was hoping to see some comments from members who have solved this issue. I'm wondering if LED bulbs would be a better option?

Sylvania 9005 bulbs have a pathetic lifespan of between 100 and 320 hours. The good news is that unlike other models of the LR2, the ones that can use the 9005 can use LED replacements, and those can last as much as 50,000 hours, likely longer than you will keep the truck.

Thanks flybd5! That would be great, do you have any recommendations on which LEDs to use? Everything I've seen searching the forum and other sources says that LEDs aren't meant for headlights, only DRLs or fog lights.

Sylvania itself makes an LED version of the 9005. They run about $100 for a pair at Advance Auto Parts. Other parts stores should have them. Pricey, but they last a lot longer and come with a 5-year warranty.

Before you do this, carefully check what bulbs you have. If you have halogens, it is illegal to replace them with LEDs.

Well, that's disappointing since I have halogen bulbs currently. I know when I search for bulbs, the bulb finder always assumes I have HID headlights or separate hi and low beam halogen. Maybe the Freelander was equipped with HID? I just have single halogen bulbs for hi/low beam.

Changing from Halogen to LED is a major undertaking that means ripping out and replacing a lot of hardware and wiring, and after you do that you may get stopped for the LED lights.

I just use the fog lights all the time - daylight for visibility, nighttime for better lighting. If LED light bars are legal in your jurisdiction, you can also consider adding them. Just two small LED bars would probably do the trick.

Or just live with the halogens...

My 2008 LR2 came with adaptive HIDs, likely an option selected by original owner, the original bulbs were kinda crappy when I got it but I changed them to aftermarket 5000k chinese HID which were cheap on Amazon. They last about 2+ years but are a third of the price of a good brand that simply are not as bright. You can software self level but you can manually adjust once home if you are flashed by on coming traffic. I've never been flashed.....I've used them since 2019, 3rd set. Pay attention to whatever the wattage is.
