Clean and Polish LR2 Exhaust Tips
There are two tail pipes coming out of the muffler, and each one is adorned with a chrome exhaust tip. These are purely ornamental and they have an attractive shine when clean.
But your average car wash won't clean and polish them back to their original appearance. So I just worked on mine to bring them back to new car luster. If you choose to remove them for cleaning, you can do so by loosening a set screw on the bottom. However, I decided to simply sit on a flattened cardboard box and work on them while attached.
First, your car should be cold so you don't burn yourself. Best time to work on these is first thing in the morning before you have taken a drive. Use any All Purpose Cleaner and a rag to clean them. Next, use a metal polish and a towel to bring them to a glossy shine. I used Zephyr Pro-40 metal polish, but you can use any metal polish that is non-abrasive and safe for chrome. Finally, give them a final wipe with a microfiber towel.
I'm attaching before and after photos. The surface in the "after" photo looks like it does because the chrome now has a mirror finish that is reflecting the surroundings.
This small detail will give your LR2 a nice "pop"!
