Hi Fellas,

i had a code today P2118 i m getting of tired this car before go to the mechanic id like to ask you guys do you have any advice.

It would help to know what year your car is, and confirm it is an LR2.

2012 land rover lr2 hse,

i just wanted to know,do I have to do something before go to mechanic, I don't like to touch people who don't know their job

Your throttle body may need replacement. If you don't like your mechanic you should be looking for a better one.

These cars do not have mechanical throttles. When you press on the accelerator a potentiometer sends a signal which is translated to movement of a motor in the throttle body. The error code is telling you the computers thinks the motor is failing, or somewhere the wiring is shorted. The service manual says to check the motor on the throttle body and its circuits, and install a new throttle body assembly if necessary. To do so you need to get underneath the truck, remove the undershield, then remove the air intake from the throttle body and remove four bolts to release and remove it. Reverse to install. Not exactly a complicated job, but it helps if you have a lift.

Then check the connector and wiring first, make sure the connector is properly seated, and make sure you didn't pinch any wiring in the process.
