Default Coolant light on in cold weather

Hi everyone! I have a 2013 LR2 which I’ve owned for 3 years. Each winter the coolant warning light comes on. It goes on and off while I’m driving. I park in my garage overnight and there is no evidence of a leak on the floor. Temp gage reads normal.
Any ideas, and should I be concerned about this?
Thanks!

Did you check the coolant level? If it's fine, and you are using the correct coolant without diluting it with water, then you probably need a new reservoir. The sensor for the level is inside, don' t know if the sensor can be purchased separately.

I've noticed that my Coolant Low light comes on when the fluid is just below the Min line on the reservoir tank. No margin at all. When it goes one millimeter below the Min line, the light comes on.

I just top off the reservoir with a little coolant to bring up the level and then it's good for a long time.

Try rapping the reservoir tank with a rubber mallet. Sometimes that will unstick the float that triggers the light. I used that solution once on mine and it hasn't given me any grief since. Also, you can try removing it, emptying it completely and rinsing it thoroughly with hot water to remove any sediments that could be making it stick before installing it again and refilling it with fresh coolant fluid.

Thanks. Since it was just a little low, I topped it off with 50/50 Dexcool rather than mixing myself, and light is off.

On a possibly related note, the yellow transmission/emissions light came on before I did this, and remained on. thought I'd ask you here before posting a new thread. Thanks!!

Doesn't mean much to me without the error codes from the computer. You have an OBDII reader?

I do not have one, and will swing by an auto parts store tomorrow and let them read it for me.

Error code P0299. Sounds expensive. Tell me I just need new spark plugs.

P0299? You sure? Is your LR2 a turbo diesel model? If so, P0299 usually means the turbo is not putting out enough boost output (underboost condition). It could also be triggered by low oil pressure, a fault in the EGR system, air or intake leak or restriction or a faulty boost pressure sensor. The two most common indications are the check engine light and the car going into what's known as "limp mode" to prevent damage to the engine. Limp mode reduces engine power. You might also be able to hear a mechanical noise in the engine if the turbo is failing.

You need to take your car to a shop that works on Land Rovers. There are a series of actions that must be taken to diagnose the root cause and they can't be done without specialized equipment.

If your car is NOT a turbo diesel model, then I am stumped. That error only means the things I wrote above.

If the turbo has failed, then you will have to buy a new one or obtain a used/rebuilt one. One way to save money is to go to car-parts.com and see if you can find a shop that dismantles cars and sells their parts and see if they have a turbo they have pulled from a known good engine on another LR2. They are not cheap if you buy them new. But maybe the mechanic will find it's one of the other issues and you won't have to spend too much money.

Got the printout from Autozone. I thought all 2013 LR2s were turbo, and it's definitely not diesel. Got any friends around Baltimore you recommend? I can take it to my regular place (they're pretty good and will tell me if they can't handle it) or the dealer if absolutely necessary.
