Default Engine stand

When my mechanic finishes swapping the 20k mile salvage engine for the 210k mile engine, I want to take apart the old engine myself, and if necessary send out the valve cover and any other parts for machining before I put it back together again.

Do I need any special engine stand or will a Harbor Freight rice rocket model do?

You might try asking on a Volvo forum.

The engine arrived, so I will go see it this week at the shop and measure the bolt holes

Yes, just a shell with fancy decals. There are quite a few of those out there. The lack of registration markings gives it away.

I haven't been able to get a reliable number. All I know is that it is less than 180kg.

I bought a used Harbor Freight engine stand that was used to work on 6 and 8 cyl engines. Should be fine, I just need to find the correct bolts to hang it from the stand.
