Default FL 2 - Memory Seat Module Issue

Hi everyone,

I'm a proud owner of a Freelander 2 HSE LUX 2013 model which I absolutely love. Unfortunately the driver's seat memory module was missing upon purchase. I called Land Rover main dealer and found out the correct part number for the seat module of my vehicle 'LR041896' and the engineering number is 'DJ32 14D600 AA'.

I purchased a second hand memory module on ebay with 'almost' the same engineering number 'BJ32 14D600 AF'. After installing, all the buttons including memory settings seem to work but only in small increments?! I am not sure if this due to the part numbers differing ever so slightly?

I called main dealers for a new module and they quoted me £203 + £210 to program!!!! I assumed it would simply be a plug and play but apparently not....

Has anyone else came across the same issue as me? I would really appreciate any help or guidance at this stage.

Thank you in advance .

As the dealer stated, the module needs to be programmed. Virtually none of the modules in this vehicle are plug-and-play. LR had to make sure the dealers can continue to skim money off our wallets for years to come.

Then does it not defeat the purpose of buying another module with identical part number if it needs to be programmed anyway? Surely a second hand module with a different part number can also work after programmed?

There is no guarantee that part numbers are interchangeable. Even if you buy an identical replacement it still needs to be programmed for your vehicle to work correctly. That you have not done so explains the problem you are having. Sorry, but it is what it is.

No. The module has to be coded/registered to the ECU/BCU; A Gap tool or JLR SDD software can do this. flybd5 is correct, the dealer likes to continuously tickle money from you pocket.

If you like a challenge:

A 25 amp supply charger is a must but you can get this setup with a used laptop for under $100USD (not including the supply charger of course)..............worth it since there are so many married modules in the LR2.

Don't you still need a specialized cable for this?

Yes, a Mongoose/Mangoose cable or clone; I use a clone without issue. The cables are about $40USD for the clone, that's part of the $100USD.....

^^^ I use the above cable and v130 on a virtual machine; Win 10 lappy.....

With this setup, you are able to do exactly what dealerships can do (upto a certain year class with SDD v130 (which I use)) & the USB/OBDII cable will also allow you to run all versions of JLR SDD v161+ with a different laptop setup (no virtual machine but you will need a key, etc.).

Alright, I ordered one. If it works as advertised it will definitely be worth the $63 bucks with DHL shipping.
