Default Freelancer 2 no dash no start

My daughters freelancer 2 has been ok till now.
this morning she put the key in but no dash display and when you push the start button , all you can hear is the fuel pump prime. No Solenoid click or engine crank.
i have checked every fuse , the windows still work and locking and unlocking but no hazard lights or fan.
any ideas please as I’m just lost.

Check your battery voltage. Sounds like it either needs to be charged or replaced. Remove the positive cable, then the negative, and use a voltmeter directly on the battery posts. The voltage should be between 14.7 and 13.7 volts. Anything below, leave the cables disconnected and put a charger on it until it either finishes charging or indicates an error. If that doesn't help, you need a new battery.

You can also jump start it and drive it to the nearest auto parts store or service shop. They will usually test your battery for free, and may even charge it for a small fee.

To jump start it put the positive cable on positive side of the battery (with the cars' cables installed) but the negative cable needs to go to something metal in the engine compartment, not to the negative side of the battery. The instructions for jump starting are also in the owner's manual.

Have it tested with a battery tester then, not just a voltmeter.

Like I said, the battery could be in need of replacement. If you use jumper cables to connect another car you should be able to read the codes. That will tell you if it's something else.
