Fuel smell in cabin
Recently, I've noticed that my 2013 LR2 HSE (2.0 turbo 4) smells like fuel after I start it up when the engine is warm. There are no codes and it drives excellent. Have any of you encountered this? Thanks.
Might be the evap system, which is not a big deal. But I'd inspect it carefully to make sure you don't have an actual small fuel leak... that would not set a code, but would start a fire which would destroy the car.
Harder to fix and more expensive is the canister and pump, located over the rear left hand side wheel well.
A strong sign is that when you open the fuel cap you can hear the pressure equalizing.
The evap system components have a tendency to break down. The most common one is the purge valve near the intake manifold. That costs about $25 + labor and is a relatively easy DIY job if you're up to it. I have a spare purge valve if you need it, but it is for my 2008. Not sure if the 2013 is the same valve.
