I saw you mention an immobilization from a dead battery jump... i have a 96 LRD That was given to me with a dead battery. I cant justify a new battery unless i get it running, so i use a set of jumper cables to try and start it.
I have tried several times to start it and set the alarm off a couple times, and with the hood switch up...(didnt k.ow.a out it until later).
Any thougbts?

I also had false hood open problems, which was made worse when it was locked (alarm all going off all the time). I just unplugged the sensor and looped it as suggested, problem solved.

Default Hood open/alarm

This is on a 2008 LR2 HSE

Thanks!
we have the same issue with our 2008 LR2. Daughter currently has it at the U of Toledo. She can’t lock the doors since it goes off within 5 minutes. The vehicle was just broken into on campus in the athletic dorm parking lot, fortunately her golf clubs were in her locker at the golf facility. Hard for me to fix it since I live in Georgia and she’s at school in Ohio

I used a paper clip to jumper the contacts. Done.

does that mean the dealer will fix for free or do I need to have this resolved out of pocket?

A TSB is not a recall. If it's out of warranty, I'm sure you'll have to pay for it. But almost anyone can DIY this one... especially since the dealer will probably charge $1k.

I actually replaced the switch, but if it was just me I'd have jumpered the connector. But my wife might actually drive away with the hood unlatched. On one of those exceptionally rare occasions when she actually checks the oil.
