Default Hood open / Alarm

Greetings,
A couple of times a week, my alarm goes off because it senses that the hood is open. The hood is firmly latched. Opening and closing the hood seems to solve the issue.

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there any sort of adjustment that can be made for whatever is sensing the hood latch open/close position?

This is on a 2008 LR2 HSE

Thanks!

I'd go the opposite direction - unplug the hood switch. Rover alarms and immobilization with dead battery jump off are too common. I've got insurance.

Can this be done? Also, what do you mean about the immobilization and dead battery jump off?

Default LR2 Anti-Theft Hood Switch Assembly

I had the exact same problem a few months after I purchased my 2008 LR2 HSE. The dealer replaced the defective hood switch, part #YUE500150. It's an inexpensive part, but you have to remove the front grille to gain access. The dealer took care of it under warranty.

Thanks... I just ordered one from the UK for $19.24 ...

How difficult is the installation? Were you there to see it? I'd rather not pay the dealer $100+ to install if I can do it myself.

Sorry, I did not watch the replacement job. I only know the front grille was removed because it was noted on my service receipt.

Perhaps one of the LR techs who participate in this forum can provide some guidance. Please let us know how it works out for you.

I have this same problem. I read on another forum on how you can just pull the wiring harness from the bottom of the switch assembly (located on the right hood latch) and just use a wire to short the two. That disables the hood switch all together. Bye bye random alarms.

I have the new part. I have the diagram. I just haven't had the time. Sounds like that might be an easier solution, but I'd rather everything working as it should.

I'll post progress when I get around to actually doing it

Well, I did it last night and no alarm all night for once. It looks like it's a pretty common problem with the LR series at least. I've read quite a few LR2 and LR3 people with this same issue.

could you take a photo of where the access to the wiring harness is? It seems like some parts need to be removed to get to the plate that covers the sensor itself. The LR topix diagrams aren't 100% clear on this.
