How to convince myself to buy a LR2?
Hello guys, my first post here. I apologize in advance of my poor English since I am from Asia. Actually Ilive inNorthern VAright now but will move back to Asia within 3 weeks...
No doubt, I love this car! Both interior and exterior are really good to me! I have interest to buy a diesel engine model, which we call it 'Freelander 2 TD4' in Asia. However, same with most people, Land Rover quality history really scare me. They are always on the top.....top from the bottom.
I already went to a dealer in VA to see LR2. Although you don't have diesel model in the US, I just want to feel the car and interior space. In my country, LR2 is very expensive. Compare to another car I have interest, Mitsubishi Outlander, LR2 is morepricy USD $20K than Outlander (USD $65K vs $45K, if I exchange local currency to USD).
I still can afford it. But I am also care about this decisionmay just waste of money and time. People always criticize Land Rover, even with this newly LR2 car. I can't put USD $65K to do the gambling and wish Iwillhavea highly reliable SUV... I want to have a good SUV to drive, hang out with my wife and baby, instead ofworry about it all the time or drive with highly scare.
Please advise or give me some positive confidence.... How is LR2 quality and reliability, at least compare to Mitsubishi Outlander? Is that possible I have always go back to dealer for fix some thing? (I can't accept this situation even within warranty)
Thanks at all!

I have had very minor issues with my LR2. I have had it 14 months and LOVE it. It is awesome in the mountains. I had the same qualms as your self about purchasing my LR2 but the brand definately stands behind it's product. However, I would not drive any Land Rover out of warranty. Nor would I any vehicle, really. I have a used Jetta that I am constantly putting money into. I've had that vehicle for two years and have put thousands of dollars into it. It mostly just sits in my garage and keeps my LR2 company.
Not sure what sort of engine the diesel is or how that will impact performance compared to the I6 the LR2 has. LR2's have a Volvo S80 engine in the US.
Good luck.
