Installed Garmin backup cam
So I finally got up the nerve to install my Garmin BC-30 backup camera on my LR2. In the end it was not really as traumatic as other things I have done. Didn't have to drill anything, the cam clips onto the license plate and the wire can be run through the same hole as one of the license plate lights. The cable is flexible and only has a few thin conductors. I then had to fish it out on the other side through a grommet. Panels had to be popped out on the rear door and around the rear opening. No big deal. Two screws for the hatch panel. Two screws to remove one of the rear light assemblies. The rest was routing and pulling wire through grommets. I spliced the power wire to the same on the connector that hooks up to the reverse bulb on the rear light assembly and the ground to the one to one of the other wires, all of which are grounds. Weird. Worked right the very first try with my Garmin GPS. I used the glue on the transmitter to put it inside the rear hatch under the trim panel. All done. Took another five minutes to drive to the local supermarket to adjust the guidelines using parking space lines.
