Changed the cigar and aux power sockets
Yesterday I also took out the tired cigar/lighter/aux power sockets on the center console. Not hard, eight screws, two of them torx, the rest 7 mm. The hard part was undoing the parking brake which wasn't working anyway, either needs to be adjusted or pads replaced. Doing that allowed me to raise the parking brake handle all the way up and slip the center console out. First thing I did once it was out was to clean it. Previous owner used to go to beaches in Cape Cod and it showed. Of course, the sockets I bought were not a match so I had cut wires and install new terminals. Also, it turns out only the front socket is lighted. The rear one is not. Both the sockets I bought are lighted (green rings) so I spliced an extra wire and terminal from the front and lighted up the back. Putting everything back together was a lot easier than taking it apart. I left the parking brake undone until I can get around to fixing it.
But then I found the front socket would not work. Checked the wiring diagrams and it turns out they are powered through fuses in different places. The front fuse for the front socket (15 amp) was blown. Swapped, fixed. Happy camper now.
