We've updated the our reliability stats for the LR2 to include owner experiences through June 30, 2012.

With a repair frequency of 52 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2008 LR2 has returned to "about average."

We'll have further updates in November and February. With more owners involved, we could provide more precise results and cover all model years.

With a repair frequency of 68 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2008 LR2 has been about average.

We'll have further updates later this month and in May. We'd love to provide more precise stats and cover more model years--just a matter of getting more owners involved!

Sell them! I just got hit with the dreaded rear differential failure with my 2008 LR2 HSE. At 69k miles this is unbelievable to me that my wife's street driven LR2 differential has a bearing failure at 69k.
$1800 in parts and labor it'll be done on Monday.
I guess they're getting a lot of practice fixing this because I've seen people post up to 5k for the repair when people started hitting 60-80k miles.

I'm 42 and this is the first car that I've ever even heard of that's had a rear differential fail under 200k miles if at all. I'm pissed
This should be a recall! My god damn rotors lasted longer than the differential that's just unbelievable.

When did the differential become a wear item?

Default Rear differential.

For the person who had the Rear differential go. Was it really the Rear differential or was it the differential actuator motor internal gear?

The reason I asked is that I thought the LR2 had the BMW Transmission and differential and I helped my brother replace the gear in his BMW, it took about 2 hours and only cost $70.00
