How do I remove the clear license plate cover light?

 

I've never done it, but I can see the need that I might have to one day.

This video doesn't address exactly what you asked, but might be helpful.

 

There are two clear lights, one either side of the tailgate electronic popper.
Open the tailgate at an angle so that you can see them clearly. You will notice on one side of the lens there is a notch where you can put a screwdriver. gently insert a screw driver and pop it off, you can remove the lamp this way.

that video is good. I have done that procedure to change the color of the tailgate handle. just be careful removing the entire handle once removing the nuts & the electronic supply. As the plastic fasteners on the inside of the handle become weak over time and might snap off. (happened to me on one)
