Thanks for the input. I will have the heater hoses replaced along with the other coolant hoses. It looks like they will need to remove the small coolant tank, intake manifold, air box, and battery holder to get access to everything.

I will also replace the set of manifold port gaskets as I understand that should be done at least once during the life of this vehicle.

 

I replaced everything (radiator, reservoir, water pump, radiator hoses, outer heater hoses, bypass hoses) a couple of years ago. Everything but the inner heater hoses, which are behind the outer firewall because I had neglected to order them at the time. I finally got around to replacing the inner heater hoses earlier this month. You can buy a whole kit of OEM hoses that's a good value vs buying them individually.

It's not too bad of a job, really. Just lots of getting stuff out of the way so you can get to them all. There is no quick way to do most of it because there is a bunch of wiggling and finagling to do - especially with the water pump and the hoses behind the engine. Solid weekend job, basically, for an experienced DIYer.

 

I’ve been doing the same cross-referencing and it saves a chunk of cash, especially on front control arms and sensors that are identical under different part numbers. I’ve mixed in parts from https://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/ before for my other cars, and I like how quick it is to check OEM numbers, which makes matching Volvo equivalents to LR2 stuff a lot less of a headache.
