LR2 2009 head gasket replacement
#21
Don't know for sure but from the image it appears to be held in place by the two bolts, with an o-ring to seal it at the block. Should pull straight out.
Probably just needs some leverage, try to keep it as straight as possible coming out although a little wiggle might help. I'd guess the oring is what's sticking (should probably replace that too).

Thank you very much

Update
Hi All ,
Not sure if anyone is following this but I thought I might share an update , so the head is almost out , it was a really difficult job took a long time and had to buy some special tools , however I can't see any major damage on the timing parts , chain , camshafts , timing or valve covers which is promising .
After all these manhours spent I'm not sure whether to install the original Volvo gaskets or the Victor Reinz ones , the budget will differ a lot depending on this .
There is a huge debate online and each team is recommending something according to their own experience .
Here are some photos attached .

It's a messed engine man , never saw a car that needs the AC and water pump removed to replace a drive belt , a car that needs a special tool to get the AC compressor bracket adjusted , and that has 60 screws on the valve cover .
it was a nightmare
