Hello, I am thinking of buying a used LR2 2012 with about 50K miles or less if I can find one. My budget is about $25K about 10K-12K will be taken out on a loan. I am wondering if this is a good idea based on what everyone hears about reliability on LR products. I have never owned a land rover but want one to be my next car. If need be I can spend up to $30K! (If I'm completely in love). Im also interested in Range Rover Sports as there are some available around here with about 50K miles as well in the 28K-30K vicinity. What should I go for? I do drive up to Tahoe about once-twice a year and besides that I commute to my job 12 miles there 12 miles back every day. What should I choose!? I want a SUV for my next car!!

Thanks for any advice I have a good job so i can afford maintenance and repair but I am not rich!! Please help thank you so much for any input!!

I recently bought a 2011 LR2 HSE with 50k miles. I also bought a 50k warrantee ($300 deductible) just in case. So far, so good, but then again, I don't abuse the car either. My commute is less (3.5 miles) so I don't expect to put more than 10k a year (after the excitement wears off). This is my first Land Rover and I really enjoy driving it. It is about the same length as my Forester but is much wider (just barely clears the garage door by about 2" on each mirror). The backup warning sensors are nice, and the mirror reposition themselves when you back up. I added winter tires (have to drive all over the Academy which tends to have ice and snow before and after the rest of the city). Parts are available on line at greatly discounted prices and there are even sources for LED replacement bulbs.
Which ever one you choose, you will like it. Wayne
