Default LR2 Issue

I have a2008 LandRover LR2 that has engine light on, no acceleration at first then seems ok till I come to a stop, then seems to take minutes for it to reach 30mph. Took it to AutoZone and it threw out a code for a fuel filter or fuel pressure sensor. Sales guy told me it was most likely just dirty and to run some seafoam thru it . I did that and engine light went off for 2 days then I'm back to light on and no change. my mechanic said that I need a whole new fuel pump. I told him its not stalling or not starting. I had new plugs and coil pack 4 months ago, along with new converter and rear exhaust. I'm at a loss, and because I'm female mechanic thinks I don't have a clue . I get online and research everything i can find to try and figure out the issue.
So, if anyone can help me I would appreciate it .
1st does the 08 LR2 have a fuel filter.
2nd. should I replace the fuel pressure senor and see if that is the problem , before replacing the fuel pump( which is very costly).

Online research does not replace "been there, done that" physical experience. For one thing, real mechanics know that "threw out a code" is not the same as listing the exact codes the reader displayed at Autozone. You did write those down, right?

The fuel rail pressure sensor is a common failure point, and will produce those symptoms. It's easy to replace, you're supposed to remove the fuel rail to do that, which isn't hard at all but you'll need to replace some O-rings. By looking at it, you might just be able to replace the sensor without removing the rail, not sure why they tell you to do that.

Since they fail eventually anyway, I'd be inclined to replace that myself before the fuel pump.

To replace the fuel filter, you'd need to remove the fuel tank. It's rare to have a clogged filter these days since all the old rusted gas station tanks have been replaced with new composite tanks for environmental reasons. But it is possible if you got a really bad batch of gas.

I don't see how the sensor could cause these symptoms. in fact, the service manual doesn't even list the sensor as a possible fault source for this situation. It lists a good number of possibilities and things to check, but not the sensor. First on the list? Fuel pressure and the fuel pump. Only the codes from the computer can tell you what in the complex fuel system is failing. The reason the fuel pump r&r is expensive is not because of the part, it's the labor. The fuel tank has to be removed to get to the pump located inside. It's just like my BMW K1100LT, where the pump is also inside the fuel tank (but a lot easier to get to and replace if necessary).

I had those symptoms and it was the pressure sensor. My indy LR guy said they fail eventually.

It's a $25-$35 bet for the sensor plus a little labor. She can always try it. But I suspect that won't fix it in this case.

It is right on top of the engine, just to side of the oil fill cap.

Yup. Very common failure and usually both easy and cheap to fix with a new pressure sensor. Had to change mine out at 214K.

Sounds like a sensor, I had similar symptoms when my crankshaft position sensor broke off. Vehicle went into limp mode very slow acceleration and engine light on.
