Default LR2 Strut Replacement

Hello All!!
I am about to replace the struts on my 08 LR2... It seems as if the front insulator (LR018785) contains the bearing as well? Do these normally fail or can they be used over again. The steering is smooth with no "memory" or binding. I assumed that the bearing would be contained in the mount but that doesnt seem to be the case. Please Advise ???

Maybe this helps. I don't know what you mean by "insulator".

It appears to be contained/pivots on #6. I am doing some round and round interchanging part numbers and it appears that Volvo used the same part on XC70 and XC60

The service manual does not say anything about discarding the bearing when replacing the strut. It is intended to prevent the spring from winding up during actuation. If you have no symptoms, I would leave it be and reuse it.

I am going to proactively replace my front struts with Billys as well. I did the back with Billys a while back because the DS was leaking. You might want o get the item 9, the spring isolators, I did; I also purchased two insulator bearings to replace at the same time but it's most likely an unnecessary step. I'll update this thread on the condition of the original bearings once I do the job. p_gill posted this video link elsewhere:

Well.... Got struts on... Went ok except for the cracked bottom coil on front spring. Had a set flown in overnight. What a difference in ride quality. LOVE the Bilstein B4's. Got power steering fluid changed out with the CH202. Only thing left is the trans fluid and brake fluid flush. I got a set of Summimoto Ice Edge and they are simply AMAZING. Even on ice/hardpack snow I havent even slipped so far. Did a 55mph panic stop and very controlled/straight with only a second of antilock brakes. LOVE LOVE them. Went with 255/55/18 size.
