So I am trying to diagnose a lean condition on my 2012 LR2 3.2 liter engine US spec.
I ran across an apparently broken "U"-shaped hose between the engine and the firewall. The hose attaches to a tube with "Jaguar Land Rover BJ32-6822-FA P108D" written on it. I found an assembly for an Evoque that uses the same part number (see photo in flickr album) but I can't find anything online regarding a part on an LR2 with this number. I figure it is a generic Land Rover tube cut and bent for any need.
Any idea what this tube/hose functions as? Any idea what the U-shaped hose on top of the aforementioned tube attaches to? Whatever it attaches to has disappeared or fallen off my car, I can't find it. I put that plug under my finger in, have since removed it since I can't detect any vacuum at idle. The bottom hose disappears under the engine. Crankcase ventilation? See website link in text. There is no indication what this Evoque pipe does. The pipe has same part number (although it is shorter than mine) and the U shaped hose looks identical.

I am trying to find out if the top (the "U"-shaped hose) plugs into anything. Or does it just sit behind the engine open to the air?
I guess the next step is to remove that cloth on the firewall and see if there is anything under there, maybe bolted to the firewall that it could have come off of.
I can't find a picture, but it should connect in the back of the engine, not the firewall, near the pcv valve. I will look at my engine tomorrow and see if I can take a picture.
That could cause a lean condition if it's allowing unrestricted and unmeasured airflow into the intake after the MAF.
I believe a crankcase or exhaust manifold leak (Anything upstream of the first O2 sensor) can result in a lean condition failure code.
On the other hand, the crankcase needs to be vented, so I can't just plug up the vent pipe.
Also, whatever the Crankcase vent tube was plugged into may now be open too, and if that was part of the vacuum system, that could be a cause of my lean condition too.
So the solution would be to find or replace whatever the breather tube was plugged into and reattach it.
I am thinking that the prior owner had a catch can installed and, either he just pulled it out before selling the car or the purchaser just pulled it out.
Surprise, surprise. That u-turn at the top of the hose doesn't connect to anything, it just sits there. It's a free vent from the crankcase, and the u-shape is to prevent unwanted crud from getting into the hose. Go figger'.
