Does it work OK with the engine at idle and the alternator putting out 13 - 14 volts? Or does it complain if it's getting anything besides a steady 12 volts from a regulated power supply?
All the work I've done with SDD is with the engine not running. I don't see why it would not work with the engine at idle, since some tests/diagnostics require the engine to be running, but I suspect it's not a good idea to perform tasks such as reprogramming modules with the engine running.
a few more parts arrived as well as the fuse buddy arrived so I went for another hill climb.
replaced the spark plugs with brand new factory plugs and replaced all the ignition coils with used factory ones (i had a mismatch of coils before). Here's the graph results for the hill climb on my 1st and 5th run.
fuel pump fuse drew about 4.8-5.2 amps (pump duty was around 50%) and went up the appropriate amount when the pump duty % increased. I think i saw it hit 6 amps briefly when the duty hit 60%.
not sure if it was the new parts or the fact the weather has cooled down a bit (27 degrees today versus ~34). But everything seems to be working fine now. Not really sure how plugs and coils would affect the fuel psi, but i'm not complaining.
