Default Repair cost too high?

Hi all,
Posting from Toronto Canada.
I have a 2010 LR2, and my trusted mechanic retired after many years if great service. Found a new highly recommended one and got a quote for rear shocks and struts (R side lost all fluid) and full front brakes and rear service only.
They quoting me (approx) $1100.00 P+L on the shocks and close to 1K on the front brakes + $400.00 to service the rears. This seems really high to me.
Thought?

If he will give you a decent warranty, how much is your time worth? Would you rather do it yourself or pay $2500 for all that work?

This is only the second post I've seen on this forum to replace a bad strut on the LR2. So generally, they must hold up pretty well. Are you getting OEM replacements, or aftermarket? Which brand? KYB and Bilstein are the big brand names in aftermarket these days (years ago it was Monroe before they fell out of favor).

Are the prices you're showing in USD or CDN? Either way, sounds like a fair price for all that work if they are using quality parts and decent warranty, as fly said.

Full front brakes means pads and rotors to me. For the rear, what does the "service" cover?

I replaced mine with Blistein B4, those give a slightly firmer than stock ride which I really like. Feels about right for this car.

I just checked the KYB catalog and they don't offer a strut for the LR2. Another online source says Bilstein is the OEM for LR2 strut assemblies.

How many kilometres and years did you get from the current set? Are they OEM?
