Service issues...
Brought the carfor 18 mo. service -left 2 cases of synthetic oil IN FRONT of the passenger seat, and asked advisor to use that oil-after the service found oil still there, and they used regular 10-30 oil.
Question: owner's manual says to use 5W-30, and the dealer used 10W-30, is it a problem or not?
I am asking because of the cold temp. coming-heavier oil may be too heavy in the winter..?

RE: Service issues...
We use 10w-30 at our shop as well. We haven't seen any problems, your vehicle should be fine. I would have pitched a fit though. When it comes down to it, it is your vehicle and if you request they use your supplied oil, then that is what they need to do. If a customer comes to us with their own oil, we make sure that is what we use.

Not having read your owners manual, there are usually different weight oilds that are recommended depending on the cold temp during the winter and how hot you get in the summer.
All that being said, the only thing you want to stay away from is one of the 5oW oils if you are in snow country.
I run a 5W/30 in the winter here in Denver and a 10W/40 the rest of the time.

So, in Feb I just do another oil change with 5W-30.
