Unlocking the tail gate from the inside. Tried pressing both lock and unlock button by hazard light and did not work. Annoying to use the remote to unlock . Any advise. 2012 land rover LR2 HsE. Thank you

 

That's odd. Usually the failure is either the switch on the tailgate or the lock mechanism itself.

There may be a valet switch in the glove box to activate/de-activate the dash buttons for that function? My wife is on a trip with our LR2 or I'd check for you.

But you can also open the tailgate using the rubber covered switch on the tailgate. It's under the lip above the license plate. This switch only works if the vehicle is already unlocked.

 

You are aware that the unlocking is not immediate, right? It takes 2-3 seconds and then it unlocks.

 

I'm still trying to think this through. Unlocking from the inside... Annoying to use the fob...
Oh, you're sitting in the driver's seat and someone else is loading the back?? I believe the gear selector must be in P (a safety precaution) . Do the console buttons work if the ignition is not on?? I'll need to check that.
