Default Thermostat Replacement

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Land Rover LR2 and am fairly new to DIY car repairs and have only really done standard maintenance like oil changes, brake pads, etc. I have coolant leak right now and the shop let me know I need a new thermostat and I'd like to be able to make this repair myself, but I am struggling on finding any technical information on this years model. I'd like to get y'alls help on where to start, like how to identify where the thermostat is actually located, what I need to disassemble to reach it, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Why is the shop recommending a new thermostat? If there is coolant leaking from the thermostat area, it's more likely the upper radiator hose connection.

If your coolant temp is off, then a new thermostat makes sense. You can check the coolant temp on most OBD2 readers.

Thermostats don't generally fail and leak. You should take it to another shop who knows the LR2.
