it seems that the 87575 from etrailer.com is also the one that uhaul uses.

I will just use Uhaul, $385 installed.

Default Differences between electronics packages?

Does anyone on this thread know the difference between the Curt Manufacturing electronics converter package found here:
Amazon.com: Curt 56146 SMD Trailer Wire Converter: Automotive Amazon.com: Curt 56146 SMD Trailer Wire Converter: Automotive

And the OEM Land Rover wiring for the LR2 found here: LR2 Trailer Wiring Kit

Clearly, the OEM one is 12 times the price, but does anyone know what that price buys you over what the Curt one does?

Please help.

The Curt will require tapping into the wiring with wire taps. OEM is an easy install, no tapping into wiring, but does require dealer programming the car to accept the OEM kit. OEM kit when programmed, turns off the rear proximity sensors when reversing. Dealer in Hawaii charged me 1/2 hr shop fee to program, but it was still cheaper than buying from them and having them install.

The OEM kit is an easy DIY install (other than dealer activation), but does not support wiring for trailer brakes. That can be added to the OEM harness using aftermarket gear if needed.
